A U.S. Navy parachutists crashed into a crowd of spectators at San Francisco's Fleet Week on Sunday, injuring a mother and her daughter.
The parachutist, a member of the Navy's Leap Frogs parachute demonstration team, was performing shortly after noon on Oct. 13. Video shows the parachutists, many of them carrying large flags, circling down towards a group of spectators at the Marina Green. As one parachutist is about to land, they veer into the crowd.
A spokesperson for the San Francisco Fire Department told SFGate.com that the parachutist struck a mother and her daughter. The two were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
"We cannot immediately assess what happened; however, we will review this incident to determine the cause," the Navy said in a statement to local news affiliate KTVU.
USA TODAY has contacted the Navy for more information.
